Shannon Benjamin Martin

Shannon Benjamin Martin has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina. Before joining the Academic Achievers/S&L Consultants team in 2007, she worked in retail management specializing in customer service and human resources. Shannon’s passion for education led her to mentoring in public health summer programs for middle and high school students. As a Program Supervisor, Shannon still believes in strengthening the lives of families and communities through education. She uses coordination, implementation, and strategic planning skills to help develop and manage tutorial programs.

Irma Colón

Irma Colón attended Hostos Community College in New York City. She recently worked for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools for 9 years as a teacher assistant. There she used her Spanish language abilities to translate school documents, and translate parent-teacher dialogues. As an ESL teacher assistant, she used her skills to teach her students the English language. Working at a diverse school has given her the ability to interact and work with people from a multitude of backgrounds.

Eugene Hunter

Eugene Hunter received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Eugene has been involved in several community outreach activities, such as Feeding the Homeless, Mentoring, Tutoring, and Motivational Coaching. From 2005 to 2006, he has been part of F.A.C.T.S For LIFE Youth Center. Eugene assisted in designing different workshops and activities for the kids throughout the year. From 2007 to 2008, Eugene tutored Math and Reading to kids from the ages of 6 to 12. Eugene has been actively involved in his community and will continue to do all he can so our children can get the help and attention they deserve.

Veronica Duncan

Veronica Duncan holds a Masters degree in Psychology from the University of Dundee, Scotland, UK. Veronica then worked for 6 years in Recruitment and Advertising Sales before completing a Post Graduate Certificate in Primary (Elementary) Education. After teaching 3rd grade in Scotland, Veronica moved to Charlotte, NC in 2007. Since then Veronica has taught 4th & 5th grade within Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. Veronica also tutors in our after school tutoring program. Veronica utilizes her skills as a classroom teacher and knowledge of the NCSCOS to develop a differentiated and challenging curriculum for the tutoring program.
